Pepsi, a prominent Nigerian Cola brand, partners with Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to drive the Trash for Cash Initiative, focusing on recycling, environmental preservation, and wealth creation.

In a significant collaboration aimed at fostering sustainable waste management practices, Pepsi, a leading Cola brand under the umbrella of Seven-Up Bottling Company, has joined forces with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to launch the Trash for Cash Initiative. This initiative is designed to encourage the responsible disposal of plastic waste while creating economic opportunities, safeguarding the environment, reducing global warming, and enhancing the overall cleanliness of Lagos State.

At a gathering of key stakeholders, Ziad Maalouf, the Managing Director of Seven-Up Bottling Company, underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to improving the living conditions of Nigerians by advocating for a safer and cleaner environment. He emphasized the critical role that education and awareness play in achieving this goal, particularly in the proper disposal of recyclable materials. Maalouf expressed gratitude for the Lagos State government’s proactive steps in launching this transformative initiative.

Segun Ogunleye, the General Manager of Marketing at Seven-Up Bottling Company, highlighted the influential role that brands can play in driving environmental change. He stressed the importance of corporate social responsibility and the company’s dedication to positively impacting the communities it serves. Ogunleye envisioned the transformation of waste into wealth as a powerful means to create a sustainable future and preserve the natural beauty of the environment.

Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the General Manager of LASEPA, conveyed the significant strides achieved by the Trash for Cash Initiative across Lagos State. This initiative aims to raise environmental awareness among Lagosians, promote responsible waste disposal, and empower individuals through recycling. Dr. Fasawe outlined the dangers associated with improper plastic disposal and encouraged the public to actively participate in collecting and selling recyclable plastics, thereby contributing to job creation and environmental preservation.
