Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC has appointed Sabina Manu as Marketing & Innovations Director, confirming a promotion she disclosed in a LinkedIn post on Thursday. Manu said she took up the role in April 2026, five years after joining the brewer in April 2021 as Head of Customer Marketing.
She served as Acting Marketing Director before the permanent appointment.
Manu’s career inside the business moved from customer marketing into brand management, a trajectory she described as one defined by commercial pressure rather than a conventional advertising path. “For the first few years, it took everything in my commercial and leadership arsenal to bring volumes up, keep my team engaged and inspired, and navigate the complexities of a multi-brand, multi-category business,” she wrote in the post.

The appointment puts a commercially trained executive at the centre of brand and innovation strategy at one of Ghana’s largest brewers, at a time when West African beverage companies are under pressure to defend margins and justify premium pricing in weaker consumer markets.
West African FMCG companies have increasingly elevated executives from sales and route-to-market functions into brand leadership roles — a pattern visible in similar moves at Guinness Nigeria, where the company expanded the marketing brief to include innovation under the same title. Drinkabl.media reported on Ram Solayappan’s appointment to that role following Yinka Bakare’s exit.

Manu has been a visible presence in Guinness Ghana’s brand activities in recent months, including Ghana Cultural Month activations and Malta Guinness community campaigns. Guinness Ghana has not issued a separate statement detailing the scope of her mandate.
“I am a lot of things, but one thing I’m not is stuck in a box, or the cookie-cutter shape of what a Marketing Director ‘should’ be.”
