Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) Managing Director Michelle Kilpin has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tanzania (AmCham Tanzania), placing one of the country’s most influential FMCG executives at the centre of a key business advocacy platform.

TBL announced the appointment on 19 June, describing Kilpin’s election as recognition of her leadership and commitment to sustainable business growth and responsible corporate practices.

The appointment strengthens representation from Tanzania’s manufacturing sector within AmCham Tanzania, an organisation that works to promote trade, investment and private sector development while fostering closer commercial ties between Tanzania and the United States.

For TBL, the move extends the brewer’s influence beyond the beverage industry into broader discussions around investment policy, business competitiveness and economic development. The company remains one of Tanzania’s largest manufacturers, making issues such as taxation, regulation, sustainability and market access central to its operating environment.

Kilpin joins the chamber’s leadership at a time when Tanzania is seeking to attract greater foreign investment and deepen engagement with international business communities. Business associations such as AmCham increasingly serve as platforms where companies, policymakers and investors engage on reforms aimed at improving the country’s investment climate.

The appointment also reflects a wider trend across African markets, where senior executives from major consumer goods and manufacturing companies are taking on more prominent roles within business advocacy organisations. These positions provide industry leaders with opportunities to contribute to policy discussions that shape the operating conditions for employers, investors and supply chains.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, TBL said Kilpin’s leadership and experience would support the chamber’s efforts to drive sustainable growth and long-term value creation.

Her appointment gives Tanzania’s beverage industry a stronger voice within one of the country’s most influential business networks as manufacturers continue to navigate evolving regulatory, investment and sustainability priorities.
