James Bond may have left the cinema decades ago, but Diamonds Are Forever continues to find new audiences in unexpected places. The latest is the world of single malt whisky, where The Macallan has marked the film’s 55th anniversary with a limited-edition release that recently made its Nigerian debut through exclusive tasting experiences in Lagos and Abuja.
The Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is the second chapter in The Macallan’s collaboration with the James Bond franchise, following the successful 60th Anniversary Collection launched in 2022. Inspired by the 1971 Bond classic, the expression celebrates the shared values of craftsmanship, innovation and storytelling that connect both iconic brands.
While the film provides the inspiration, the release itself reflects what The Macallan is best known for: exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous cask selection and highly collectible single malts.
Distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years, the expression was crafted by Whisky Maker Russell Greig using bespoke hybrid casks of sherry-seasoned European and American oak, alongside American oak casks previously seasoned with red wine. Bottled at 45.5% ABV, it delivers layers of polished oak, vanilla bean, dried fruits, caramel, cocoa, figs and gentle spice, showcasing the depth and character that define The Macallan.
Beyond the liquid, the presentation reinforces the story behind the release. Drawing on original production artwork from the official James Bond archives, the bottle and presentation case transform the expression into a collectible that celebrates both cinematic history and The Macallan’s commitment to exceptional design.
