Guinness Nigeria posted a 57 per cent jump in profit after tax to ₦14.91 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and its board approved an additional interim dividend of ₦7.00 per share, according to the company’s unaudited results.

Revenue rose 20 per cent to ₦142.27 billion from ₦118.66 billion a year earlier. Gross profit climbed to ₦53.99 billion and operating profit reached ₦24.34 billion. Neither gain came from a one-off item.

The sharper story sits in the finance line. Net finance costs fell 62 per cent to ₦1.75 billion from ₦4.61 billion, lifting profit before tax to ₦22.59 billion. That deleveraging is now funding shareholder returns directly.

“Our Q2 performance reveals that the momentum we’ve built is being sustained through disciplined execution and a relentless focus on our consumers and customers.” — Girish Sharma, Managing Director and CEO

The new ₦7.00 payout follows the ₦2.00 interim dividend paid after the first quarter, bringing total interim dividends declared this year to ₦9.00 per share, a combined distribution of roughly ₦15.33 billion. Board chairman Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, called it confirmation of the board’s confidence in the company’s cash position.

Combined first-half revenue now stands at ₦265.04 billion, an 11.8 per cent rise confirmed in the company’s filing with the Nigerian Exchange. The filing also shows total loans and borrowings cut nearly in half over the period, the mechanism behind the lighter finance charge.

Guinness Nigeria’s turnaround is playing out against a wider reset among Nigerian brewers. International Breweries is working through its own accumulated losses on the way back to a dividend, while Champion Breweries has leaned on regional expansion to rebuild volume.

The next test comes at full-year audit, when Guinness Nigeria has to show the lower finance charge holds without the cushion of a single strong quarter.
